Hey im wondering if i dont get a pilot slot in the afrotc what other option are there? How many times can i try to apply for the rated board? Can i still leave the program if i dont get the job i want which in my case is pilot? This can be a pilot or Weapons Systems Officer (WSO). An ALO is a secondary job description in the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy (believe same applies to Army as well). The job of an ALO is to provide advice to the Joint Combat Commander on Courses of Action (COA) to take when employing air power to Joint military missions such as those.

For students applying through the High School Scholarship Program—a waiver request will be automatically forwarded from DoDMERB to the Air Education and Training Command Surgeon General (AETC/SG) for consideration.
Categorization is the process by which AFROTC cadets are selected for rated slots (e.g. Pilot, Navigator, Air Battle Managers). Categorization occurs the Spring prior to graduation. Competition for rated slots is based on an “order of merit” numeric score and is very competitive. I am currently an AS200 cadet with hopes of picking up a pilot slot next year. I am in good physical shape scoring mid to low 90’s on my PFA consistently. I am worried that if my PFA score isn’t 97 and above I might not get a slot.
